Myths and Facts

Myth are stories that have evolved in response to questions when human are not able to verify the truth, which in times have been embedded firmly within our consciousness.

The question :: Was mum right ?

MYTH
Reading in dim/poor lighting is harmful to your eyes and may ruin your eyesight.

FACT
It is unwise to read under dim light because it will cause your eyes to feel uncomfortable and tired, but it cannot hurt your eyes.

MYTH
Once you start wearing glasses, your eyes will become dependent of them.

FACT
Glasses will not make your eyes worst, but some refractive errors will increase as you get older. Also, before you start wearing glasses, you are accustomed to see the blurry world around you as normal. When your vision is corrected after several months, you will be presented with the same blurry world as before when you remove your glasses. Reality is you enjoyed clear vision with glasses.

MYTH
Wearing other people's glasses or wrong prescription has made my eyes weaker.

FACT
It might be possible to induce headache but will not cause lasting damage.

MYTH
I lost contact lens behind my eyes.

FACT
Impossible as nothing can get to the back of eye socket.
